chemistry vs. biology

i'm considering CMU for pre-med..but they don't have a biochem major.
..

say i decide to major in chemistry... how will i prepare for the biology portion of the MCAT/med school? or visa versa...and physics? are there certain classes i can pick and choose?

First, if you’re interested in biochem, you can major in biological sciences and choose to concentrate in the area of biochem–Here’s the link for more info:
[Degree Options - Department of Biological Sciences - Carnegie Mellon University](http://www.cmu.edu/bio/undergraduate/current_students/academics/degree_programs/degree_options/index.html)

Also, all students in MCS are required to take/test out of two physics courses and one bio course, among other requirements. [MCS - Science Core Courses](http://www.cmu.edu/mcs/education/edu_core.html) is the link for the core science requirements.

Plus, there is extensive pre-med advising available beginning freshman year, regardless of college/major. [Health Professions Program](Health Professions Program - CMU - Health Professions Program - Carnegie Mellon University) is the link for more info.

An additional note: Just because you’re premed doesn’t mean you have to major in bio or chem.
