I don’t know where to put this question so sorry in advance. An apple just fell on my head and realized that since i’m going into pre med I’ll be needing chemistry in my life. in highschool the chem teacher was terrible so i didn’t want to risk getting a B. I took it over the summer and loved it, but the downside is that because i took it 2 years ago and for such a short time I don’t remember anything. Like nothing at all. No moles no stoichiometry, nothing. Will this be a downfall in college, like do they expect you to know the basics or do they teach it to you briefly again?
I think you and 99% of the students need refreshers, I wouldn’t worry too much. You’re in good company.
Most of the students will need some sort of refresher course. You’ll be fine.
But I wouldn’t hesitate to get a chemistry text book and spend some time reviewing on your own before school starts if you are taking chem your freshman year. Many students in chem 1 will have had AP Chem and gotten a 5 on the test. They are retaking the lower level course because they want to make 100% sure they get an A and have the basics down. Make sure too that your freshman schedule is light. That chem lab for one unit will be as much work as a 3-4 unit course in many schools. Too many freshman drop the pre-med after year one because they underestimated the work load and either killed themselves trying to keep up…or didn’t keep up. Be smart and give yourself some breathing room, especially since you will also be trying to make new friends and adjust to a new living environment.
