Chemistry

I am interested in taking chemistry and mabey ill be a chemical engineer when I’m older, but do schools allow me to take standard chemistry in 10th grade and then AP chemistry in 12th grade?

What “schools”? Do you mean will your high school allow that?

You should definitely take regular/honors chemistry before taking AP Chemistry.

Check with your guidance counselor or chemistry teacher. It shouldn’t matter if you take AP Chem junior or senior year as long as you had regular, or Honors chemistry first.

If you take a gap between standard chem and AP, it shouldn’t be that bad because AP Chem tends to teach a very different curriculum than regular/honors.

I was notified that i cannot go to ap chemistry if i take regular chemistry the year before. I asked my counselor if i could do chemistry, then honors chemistry, the ap chemistry instead. She never said anything about not being able to take honors after regular and then ap after honors.

I was also told by a teacher that the honors chemistry at my school is harder than the one taught at Auburn University. Does that sound correct?

So your high school as regular, honors, and AP Chem where students take all three? In our high school students either take regular or honors Chem and then can take AP. Most students in regular don’t take AP but it can be approved by teacher and parents. If you can’t take regular and then AP, meaning you have to honors in between, then you will have to decide if that’s the route you want to take. Teachers can make a difference, but would be hard for anyone to comment on how hard your specific honors chem class is. AP chem is typically harder than honors.

No. Thats what i need to know from my counselor
