Chicago Academic Achievement Program?

I just found out about this while fooling around on CC, and I was wondering about the pros and cons of this. It looks pretty interesting, but is it primarily for low-income admitted students? Is anyone here currently in it, or know someone in it?

Any information or opinions on it would be awesome.

Chicago Academic Achievement Program | The University of Chicago

I was in the program last year, so feel free to PM me any questions. I’ll start with the cons: nothing! (I mean I guess you have to do schoolwork during the summer but seriously that doesn’t even matter that much when it’s not counted for any grades)

Pros: New friends, preview of UChicago classes, free dorming and meals, getting paid, getting to visit Chicago and many of its attractions in the summer (I would say Chicago in the summer is much different than the rest of the year, much more active)

It is definitely not for primarily low-income students, they were some students there that were not low-income, though I do believe they give preference to low-income. Same with ethnicity, they accept students of all ethnicity, but preference is given to certain ones.

I would say definitely apply for it and unless you can really find something MUCH better to do during the summer, such as an internship or research or w/e, this is probably the best route to take
