Okay, so on the U of C website, it says that once you've submitted your common application to them, you will get an email that will let you activate your Chicago account.

I submitted my common application like two weeks ago and still have not received this email (Note: I have NOT submitted the supplement yet). I've checked on the common app website (as well as gotten an email from them) that says my application was sent.

…Umm…I’m just going out on a limb here, but perhaps you should submit the supplement? UChicago doesn’t consider the application to be complete without it.

My “spidey sense” (sorry, I just watched “The Big Bang Theory”) tells me that the supplement is part of the application (which it is) and therefore must be sent in before you are eligible for a Chicago account.

I registered for an account before I even started the app… I just fooled around on the admissions site and found a link in the upper righthand corner (like a sign in option that led to a register option)… I didn’t get the email to activate.

The other option is the sign up for the mailing list. That will get you an email to activate the account.

btw, the account isn’t that great until after you’re accepted. Then, it’s AMAZING.

@OP: Why do you want a Chicago account so bad? It’s only useful for checking whether they received everything, which won’t be helpful yet, especially since you haven’t submitted everything yourself…

and @kitkatkatie: Yes, yes it is. I was very surprised. Anyone know if other schools do similar things? Did Chicago have all this stuff in the past? If not, I suspect this is Nondorf’s shrewd way of trying to boost yield.

^^^ I would be thinking about applying for admissions waaaaaaay before financial aid… :)

@PBush MIT has a similar thing (a facebook), but I don’t think it has a chat… I wouldn’t know, because I was deferred. I know that Duke also has a similar set of features for accepted students.

If I get good financial aid, I will most def increase their yield!
