chicago CC to UCLA, UCSD, NYU or BU. [HELP!]

I am intending on getting 60 credit hours by the end of next fall term. I am a freshman in community college currently taking 19 credit hours and have 3 ap scores in marco and two in english that are 4s. I am intending on majoring in Economics or International Affairs with a minor in either arabic or french (I have a degree in German already) and speak fluent danish/swedish/norweigen. i am aiming for a 4.0 gpa obviously, and will not let myself get lower than a 3.7

ECs : -was with a program called 'world teach' funded by harvard for 3 months in Africa over the summer, was a basic science and ict teacher.
- have taken private violin lessons since i was 7
- i am tutoring kids in music (violin and piano)
- i play at a hospice every week (volunteer work)
- I am working as a waitress at outback steak house
there is a lot more.

personal essay ;

be regarding my cultural shock and how it has affected my life, but made me stronger or something (depression through highschool) moved to america from denmark on 9/11 , still danish citizen. I am half Iranian also, and have been there 4 times. (leave the country twice a year) and blahblah blah.

I REALLY want to get out of the state, and i know i will have the grades, i would be trying to get into U of C . but they dont take community college credit transfers < 3 so thats out of the question.

PLEASE GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION YOU CAN ON ANY OF THE SCHOOLS, what they look for, how much of a chance i have, (BEING AN OUT OF STATE TRANSFER) and so forth

MUCH APPRECIATED .

bumpppppppppp

Can you afford the out of state/private school tuition for the universities you listed above? assuming you have 60+ credits, 3.7+ GPA, and most of the prerequisites for each of the school you listed then I’d say you stand a good chance.
Have you ever thought of transferring to Urbana Champaign, Loyola, UIC, and other in-state universities? You would save ALOT of money and they will most likely take all of your credits.

I would think twice before transferring to those expensive schools especially for a general degree like economics.

thanks, i know. the uc colleges i can afford. i dont like illinois, and the only reallly reallllyyy good school in chicago area is northwestern and u of c, which there is no chance of me getting into. i am planning on leaving the country once i get my degree. therefore i want a strong school behind me. i dont know if i stick out enough to get into those schools though.

Debt is a big deal. Do you plan on going to grad school? If so, that will cost a lot of money. That can easily cost >$100k. I have met people whose monthly student loan payments are >$1000. They went to private schools or OOS. I have the same degree as them and have a monthly bill of <$300. They call me lucky.

Long term it is you who will make your own destiny. After your first job or so, no one cares about which school you went to. Experience is the great equalizer.

People who live outside of the U.S. will probably only know of a handful of schools. I can only name about a dozen or so international universities. The ones I do know are the big ones, not the regular, everyday schools.

You say you have a degree in German already? Are you trying to pursue a 2nd bachelor’s degree? (How old are you now?)

Note that most the UCs and CSUs here in California do NOT accept applications for 2nd bachelor degree students so those would have to be taken off your list if you have a bachelor’s degree already.

Another note is that the UCs (out of state students like yourself) the cost is about 50K a year, so keep that in mind as well (assuming you are working on your 1st bachelor degree).

degree, i meant diploma - like i am certified to study /work anywhere in germany or translate german. It’s a test you take basically to certify that you are fluent… shouldnt have used the word degree. i am 19, and will have 46 credits my first year of cc here. i intend on doing one more semester, then applying out of state and i will have that spring semester to spare of free time - traveling.

That is why i am really reaching for NYU or Berkeley , ucla and boston are my two ‘back up’ schools. well , really only boston.

UCLA is difficult to get into, and even more difficult for applicants outside of CA.

Admit rate from U.S. schools outside California 12.08%

http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof11.htm

NYU has a transfer admit rate between 10-15%.

You should consider USC, they admit 25% of transfers and school location doesn’t matter.
