Chicago Transfer RN

Thanks for the heads up, MomofWildChild.

Thanks MOWC. I have a feeling that Chicago had many more Freshman accept than they planned, which has eliminated any waitlist candidates [ fact] , as well as greatly reduce the # of transfers they can take[ conjecture] . Same thing happened at 2 other colleges S tried to transfer to. Oh boy.

Yeah I doubt many will be accepted RD, making the decision for the remaining spots harder. I also think they may be willing to accept more but have to make sure they can guarantee housing first.

In that case, I wish I would have applied EA..

any bets on when theyll mail them

I would think it would have to be sometime next week. Im sure they will also have to extend the response deadline since it is obviously past mid-may and we don't have our decisions.

Ill wager they send em on the 23rd, since its Chicago - home of the Bulls.

emailed decisions

Yes, I see now that some posters on the blog say that they are sending decisions via e-mail.

Strange.

Eek. And at least one poster has posted his/her decision.

I have not received an e-mail. :-/

just received my decision via email:

The Committee on Admissions has carefully reviewed your application for transfer admission. After much consideration, I regret that we are unable to offer you a place in next fall's class. In the decision-making process, faculty and admissions counselors make every effort to determine the strength of an applicant's preparation for study at Chicago. Given the nature and number of applicants, some worthy prospective students must be told that there is not a place for them.

I recognize that this letter may come as a disappointment to you. Nevertheless, I encourage you to make your future educational plans with the same enthusiasm and initiative that led you to consider us.

We appreciate the interest you have shown in the University of Chicago. Accept our best wishes for your future plans.

Yours truly,

Theodore A. O'Neill
Dean of Admissions

May 21, 2007

Dear Mr.....,
The Committee on Admissions has carefully considered your application for admission to the University of Chicago. Althrough the Committee has decided not to offer you admission at this time, we have placed your name on an unranked waiting list.
Final admission decisions will be made after we have received replies to our first offers of admission. Please feel free to update your file with written information. We will make every effort to conclude decision-making by the end of June. Our need-blind financial aid policy for US citizens and permanent residents will be in force for those on the waiting list, as it has been throughout the competition.
If you wish to accept a place on the waiting list, please contact Andr

ok, thanks

sympathies to jna as well as to your friend. I know how it feels, and maybe I'll be feeling it soon as well..

^^ thanks. i doubt many people with my stats have fared worse than i have this year.

hopefully you, and others awaiting decisions have much more success. (fingers crossed) for you guys.

WildChild got an email acceptance this afternoon.

I am pleased to inform you that you have been admitted to the University of Chicago for the Autumn Quarter of 2007. Congratulations! You should be proud of the accomplishments and promise that led to your selection.

We feel a particularly strong responsibility to admit students who are not only qualified but who are ready to continue the crucial business of educating themselves. You have been selected by our faculty and admissions counselors because you recognize the pleasure -- the absolute joy -- to be found in active, creative learning. Our decision was not based on numbers but on your achievements and your words, a difficult determination to make but one that gives proper honor to the University and to you.

You have the chance to be part of a school with a glorious history and an exciting present. We look to you to help us grow, to grow with us, and to be part of a tradition that elevates us all.

Yours truly,
Theodore A. O'Neill
Dean of Admissions

P.S. A letter of admission and accompanying information have been sent through the mail.

^^THAT'S GREAT!! please forward our congratulations to him. as competitive as the applicant pool has been for transfer students this year, for your son to be admitted to a school of chicago's caliber makes quite a statement about the quality of student your son has become. his admission is not only a reflection of your son's outstanding academic achievement, but a reflection of the positive influence his family and friends have made on him. you should be very proud.

Congrats to your son, MomofWildChild

Has anyone other than me NOT received an e-mail yet?

Their decision to randomly e-mail people was unexpected..

I am just sitting at my computer, waiting for the email. My anxiety is palpable.

Congrats MOWC! I'm sitting here waiting for S to let me know if he has heard yet. Keeping fingers crossed.
