I’ll start.
We’re going! My D is auditioning for 3 schools. We’re flying in on Sunday and then taking a shuttle bus (I guess. Need to figure that out) We’re staying at the Palmer. She’s auditioning for Northern Illinois, Suny Purchase and Depaul, and probably one walk-in.
Sadly Purchase and Depaul are off site of the Palmer so we won’t have that easy convenience the whole time but oh well.
Long range forecast for Chicago look OK for travel!

I’ll be there auditioning for Webster and Ball State on Monday. We’re driving down the night before and staying at a different hotel, away from the madness! And then we’re coming back right away so I can get to rehearsal.
I’m looking forward to it!

We will be at Chicago Unifieds. We live in Chicago suburbs, so daughter will be doing a combination of commuting/staying over at Palmer House. Still determining how much back and forth there will be, but have a room just in case. Daughter is auditioning for UArts (MT), Hartt (MT), Minnesota/Guthrie (Acting) and DePaul (Acting).

FYI- All Chicago area schools are closed tomorrow and anticipating Tuesday as well. Good news- We are expecting a heat wave and should be into the 20’s by the weekend. Sending light and luck to all of your stars!! Dress warm and let me know if you have any Chicago questions.

Hi! I’m new here and trying to navigate the stressful college audition season! I feel like I’m losing my mind sometimes. My D applied for 18 schools, 14 of which are audition-based.

Who is going to the Unifieds in Chicago next weekend?
My daughter and I

Is your Son or Daughter auditioning?
Daughter

How are you getting there?
We are flying in from our home in Las Vegas

What day are you getting there?
Monday afternoon

Where are you staying?
I rented a condo at The Legacy at Millennium Park (through VRBO) right by the Palmer House

What schools are you auditioning for?
SUNY Purchase on Tuesday

LOL! I made an “audition packing list” so I could just print it each time and have a fresh one to check off. I made it nice and specific, even things like socks, underwear, etc. Items my D needs to pack herself are in purple.
It is an awesome list… and a complete waste of time.
My D forgot her bras when we went to NC, having only the sports bra she went to rehearsal in. (I picked her up from rehearsal to go)
Next trip she forgot her meds, her make-up, and her boots. All of which were on the list.
When I told her she forgot the make-up she says “But it was right there in the bathroom…” But if its not right there in the suitcase honey, it wont go on the trip!
I am going to pack for her for the remaining two trips. After this though, she’s on her own!

my d is going to Chicago Unifieds; leaving DC Sunday afternoon and won’t be back till Wed. night. She’ll be alone and is staying at the Palmer House. Her name is Eliza. If anyone runs into her give her a hug from me please!

@dramamom0804…very funny…don’t even want to talk about the things S forgot both before the trip and during the trip. But I’m trying to think of it as “preparation for life”. I mean, I don’t want to be a helicopter parent when he gets to college…so he may as well begin “practicing” now. Although I did run all the way back to the hotel to retrieve an essay he forget. I love him soooo much. He will always be my baby. This is a lot for them to take on at 17.

dramamom, I love it! I use a packing list for son, and I’ll admit, I’m the packer! I have sworn to myself that once the auditions are over (in less than a week!!!) the kid is on his own!

My D is so together with everything for school - this disorganized side of her didn’t show up until she started driving and going places on her own. I always said she just doesn’t have that artistic, absent minded side to her.
I was wrong. She totally does. Has forgotten her drivers license, her keys, her money… On multiple occasions. I will stop helicoptering very soon, but for these auditions if she forgets important things it means I’m running to get it or buying a replacement. I’m making my life easier for now and double checking her!
I just made all my younger son’s breakfasts for the days we are gone, and got his backpack stuff ready so my older son and husband won’t forget any of his stuff!
