My son has a scheduling conflict at the Chicago Unifieds and I am hoping to find someone willing to swap time slots with him. He has appointments set on Monday, Feb 4th at 12:01 with Michigan and at 12:00 with Texas State. Is there anyone out there that has an audition that same day that he could switch with? It has to be the same day since his flight home leaves on Monday night. I have contacted both schools but they can't make any adjustments since the schedules are already set.

If you can’t find someone to switch with, I would pick the top choice for the audition time, and then show up at the audition desk of the other very first thing on the first day you are there. Sometimes they are more willing to work with you in person once you get there. Good luck.

Also, once you are there, ask around for someone to swap times.

Is he going by himself? Gosh, the pressure! I agree that he should pick one of the schools and actually go to the audition at noon. If he goes to the other school in the morning and they can’t reschedule, then he should just thank them and let them know that he will have to try to audition at the college’s campus. They won’t miss the fact that he is picking the other school over them, but maybe if he appears willing to go to the college itself to audition, that will show his interest.

mje11even, did you get the schedule worked out. I can’t believe the time is almost here for unifieds. My d is trying to stay confident, but it is hard.

Nothing worked out yet, but the comments in this thread and others have put our minds at ease that he will be able to work things out on the day of. He won’t be by himself, mom is going, and I get to stay home with the other kids.

Just received an email from Carnegie Mellon that said not to plan on being able to do a walk in at Chicago because they are too full

Last year in Chicago, Texas State took walk-ins. Students hung out by the room and in between scheduled auditions the director worked many others in. Good Luck.

Penn State also had walk in appts last year so I really wouldn’t worry. Good luck to your son, remind him to have fun!

I hope it worked out for your son to swap. My daughter was able to do a walk in at Texas State yesterday and they were wonderful. She just hung outside the room. They told her she would be a Priority Hold and to submit her materials ASAP. Could anyone tell me what that means exactly?

Yeah! It means she is still in consideration! She made the cut so far!

Do programs have call backs in Chicago? Seems like some do and some don’t?

PS It also mean to apply to the school. You apply online. They have rolling admission so you hear pretty quickly. Minimal requirements to get in. There is a scholarship app to fill out so she can give you in state tuition. PM me if you have any questions. Good Luck!

jeaffandann - Some schools do and some don’t. And it can vary from year to year as to what each school does.

I can’t speak for the other schools, but at Texas State, if you do a walk in, but did not send in a pre-screen, they will use the walk as the pre-screen and may ask you to come out to San Marcos for the On-Campus call back in the beginning of March. They will then also ask you to apply to the university if you have already done so.

We discovered at Unifieds in New York that most schools do not need you to be there for the multi-hour time slot they assign you to. USC was the one exception. For an audition my son knew he need to leave early, he volunteered to go first, and was done in a flash.

With Chicago Unified/Regional Auditions wrapping up yesterday does anyone have anyone want to share their experience?

Does anyone know if there was no callback later the same day of the Chicago unified audition for OU that you are not being considered for an on campus audition? That was how we interpreted the website but wanting confirmation that is correct.

That was the case last year as I got a callback. But I asked the head of the MT and he said they have switched up the process in regard to Unifieds. They will finish up their auditions (today) and then evaluate who from Unifieds gets a callback.

Hope everything went well for everyone in Chicago last week. We’ll be there next year and was wondering when things wrap up on Wednesday? Not/can’t book flights yet; however, wanted to ask this question now while the experience is still fresh on everyone’s mind.
