Chicago Unifieds Hotels?

Hi everyone- So I was originally thinking I’d be doing Unifieds in New York, but now it’s looking like Chicago will be a better bet. It would be super convenient to stay at The Palmer House of course, but it’s pretty expensive honestly. Plus costs are adding up with coaching, travel, etc. Granted I’m 18, so anything over $25 seems expensive to me haha, but even then. It’s my understanding that there was a block of discounted rooms or something, but it seems now that they are all booked (if someone knows otherwise, let me know). I was wondering if some doing Chicago Unifieds stay in other local, less expensive hotels (it seems like there’s a lot) overnight, and just go to The Palmer House for the auditions themselves? It’s not the most ideal thing, but it makes sense in my head. Has anyone done this/think it would be feasible?

When we go to Chicago, I do Priceline Express deals and search for hotels in the Loop/Millennium Park area. I’d avoid anything under 3 stars, personally, but your mileage may vary.

It’s a little further away (just outside the loop in River North, but literally right across the river), but I really like the Holiday Inn Merchandise Mart, because it has big rooms and a pool.

There’s also a Youth Hostel on Congress Street about a block from Roosevelt.

@lalalovesmusic3 - yes, it is certainly feasible to stay somewhere other than the Palmer House when attending Unifieds. In fact, some people choose to stay elsewhere, even though they can afford the Palmer House, in order to stay where the “vibe” is less frantic. Many local students commute in each morning to audition from the Chicago suburbs and even father afield.

Lots of people opt not to stay at The Palmer House-due to cost; and also because they want to be able to get away from the audition site. My understanding is there are lots of nearby hotels-so I would just find one nearby at a decent price, and book it. BAL!

Thanks so much! Glad to know that’s not unheard of.

Here is the info to Unified reservations (some of the nights are still available or check back often in case rooms become available): https://aws.passkey.com/event/14961373/owner/1455/home
