I have narrowed it down to Chico or Monterey–I only have 3 days. Any thoughts? I am thinking dental school
they couldn’t be more different… have you been to both campuses?
I agree, they couldn’t be more different.
Monterey Bay is one of the newest CSU’s and pride themselves on their innovative, integrative programs.
Chico has the more traditional program (and campus) and may be more familiar to potential dental schools.
If you haven’t already visited both, I say get in the car and start driving…
I have - they didnt show their differences as you have described. I can also choose Cal Poly Pomona.
I want to know which one has the better biology for dental school. In addition, where will I get more experience, a good education, etc.
I have visited all the campuses and didnt really get a sense that one was better than another. The group visits are a little sterile.
Monterrey has lots of great attributes (including you can see the Pacific from nearly everywhere on campus) but, my son couldn’t get over the 'zombie apocalypse" vibe of the campus, all the abandoned and decaying buildings from the old Ft Ord really cast a din on the campus. There are new developments going in so, I am sure they will be gone but, for now… The campus is isolated from town so, you don’t have the student concentration, coffee shops, restaurants, etc within a walk from campus. Chico State feels very connected to downtown Chico - you can walk from the dorm to anything you need - except the ocean. Those are the reasons my son chose Chico.
