Child looking to transfer from a top 50 LAC with a 2.7ish GPA for Junior year

Larger school preferably good academics. Money and location not a huge concern…
Potential options

Is 2.7 your GPA for your entire time at the LAC? Are you currently a sophomore looking to transfer for Junior year?

Why do you want to transfer?

What is your home state? What is your budget? What is your major?

How hard have you been working to pull off a 2.7 GPA?

Soph looking to transfer also an athlete working hard to get that GPA, live in southeast, business major money not a factor

Yes, 2.7 cumulative GPA with a 3.02 last semester

Elon?

Why does this student want to transfer?

Does the student want to keep playing the sport, or does the student want to stop playing the sport?

Does the student want an academic peer institution, or would any random state U do?

It’s to your advantage that you apparently won’t be seeking financial aid, but these days business programs are usually tougher to get into than the university as a whole. What are the SAT/ACT scores?

I’d be looking at schools that have a relatively low retention rate as they will be losing significant numbers of students after freshman & sophomore years …maybe Mississipi State, Louisville, Kansas, & Kansas State?

If the student still wants to play the sport, that’s often key to the transfer. They need to find a team they like, a coach they like, a team they’re a fit for culturally and also in terms of athletic level, etc. For many student athletes, this is a primary concern.

Schools with low retention rate are typically not as selective, so that a 2.7 GPA transfer student would have better chance of admission at such schools.

SMU might be a good fit. https://www.smu.edu/Admission/Apply/Transfer/AdmissionRequirements
