Child Support and GI Bill Question

Hello, I'm looking at going to start school full time in the fall. I've been looking over my FAFSA form and had a couple questions. I'll be using my GI Bill from my time served in the military to assist with school expenses. On the FAFSA it asks for VA Benefits, does the GI Bill fall under this? I know there are other VA benefits such as disability payments and even school reimbursement for job replacement for the disabled. How much will it hurt me if I am recieving my GI Bill? Might I even be better to put off getting the GI Bill until I hit graduate level courses and financial aid drops off?

Second question: I am single 24 year old who works (50-60 hours a week)and fully supports himself, do I still need to fill out all the info about my parent's income, etc? I also have a daughter, that does not live with me, for whom I pay almost $500 a month in child support. This equates to exactly HALF of her care and nearly 40% of my take home income. On the FAFSA it explicitly asks "Are you responsible for more than half of the care of a child?" Am I to understand that because I don't pay more than half and only pay half of child care, that it will not be considered at all in my pakage?!

Thank you.

Anyone at all?

Because you've served in the US Armed Forces, I believe you are considered an independent. Thus, I don't think parental information is necessary, although I may be wrong.

Just curious, what service branch?

also because you are 24 years old you are considered an independent studnet. Regarding the child support, I guss they are looking at a criteria similiar to establishing whether or not your child is your dependent 9in order to be your dependent you mist provide more than half theirincome and they must live with you more than half time)

i did report the GI Bill on my FAFSA. i got NO FinAid. =(
