Congrats to srw and WestMonMTDad’s sons for being cast in this show. Major roles, too, I might add! I don’t have the list in front of me, so I am sorry if I missed any of the other poster’s kids.

Musicmom, thank you! I also don’t know if any other poster’s kids were cast either, hopefully they will post.

One of my favorite shows ever. Congrats, parents!

Congrats to the CC parents’ kids at OCU!

I am not at all familiar with this show, but I’m guessing the character “Father” is pretty much God, no? How will you ever live with him, srw? LOL

Ha! He’s tall and loud any way, the kind of guy that you KNOW is in the room, you
can imagine the jokes! (not to be disrespectful of God). Thank to all!

Congrats to all of those kids who were cast. I have to say I was proud of my DD for being one of three freshmen girls who had callbacks. D didn’t get cast in the end…but still proud of her in her first audition experience in college.

Congrats to srw’s S - what a great role!! And to TXK’s D for making it to callbacks as a freshman!

D is auditioning on November 21 and is so excited. Wish Children of Eden was going to playing then as I am sure it will be amazing, but I’m sure Die Fledermaus will be great as well.

I think srw’s son was also called back for Die Fledermaus. Maybe you will get to see him! And I feel confident that a boy from here will also be cast in a lead role. Not only is he superbly talented, he is one of Dr. H’s faves.

Congrats, TXKatsmom. What a positive way for your D to start her freshman year!

Musicmom, my son was also cast in Fledermaus. He’s very excited and he will be very busy!
PM me the boys name, I have access to the cast list and I will let you know if he is cast.
My son feels very emotionally connected to Children of Eden, we think this is interesting and are looking forward to seeing it. Thanks for the kind words austinmtmom!

srw, you will LOVE Children of Eden, I promise. Congratulations on your son landing the role of Father. Wikipedia has a very nice synopsis of both the show and the interesting story behind it. Do yourself a favor and get the CD of the Paper Mill version; it’s WONDERFUL, although it will resonate that much more after you’ve seen it.

perischack, I will check it out on Wikipedia. I have heard lots of good things about the show and will look for the CD. I know what you mean about listening to the recording after seeing it, I have felt that way about several musicals.

austinmtmom, when you see Die Fledermaus, you will either get to see srw’s son or the boy from our high school as Eisenstein. They are double-cast in the role. Both are absolutely amazing! Congrats to srw’s son! Two leading roles in one semester. He’s going to be super busy!

Thanx Musicmom…we’ve been traveling and I’m just now checking in. S is very excited to be doing Children of Eden playing Abel. His part isn’t double cast unlike some of the others that will double cast but alternate second act parts as well. he was pleased that he’ll also get to do ensemble in the second act. He was really surprised and excited to get called back on Fledermaus but ultimately didn’t get cast. That’s probably for the best because he had some extra dance classes open up that he really needed so he’ll likely be really busy.

He’s especially grateful (as are we) that they will let him drop his applied clarinet lessons and just do the orchestra ensemble and still keep his instrumental scholarship. Between the MT coursework, the instrumental requirements and piano that he’s been trying to keep up, he’s been taking 19-21 hours every semester. he wasn’t able to get some of the dance classes he really needed last year because of scheduling so he’s playing a bit of catch-up. He is just so very happy there and learning so much.

I second the comment on getting the soundtrack and listening to it. I was able to download a 2 CD set through eMusic.com; not sure which version it is. I was not familiar with the show. I LOVE the music and the lyrics. Very catchy and clever. I think I hear bits and pieces musically that ultimately ended up in Wicked years later as well as some things he’d earlier experimented with in Pippin and Godspell. I find that it really resonates at several levels. We’ll be there to see it for sure.

Musicmom…I know I get you and one of the others confused, but is that your D in one of the featured shots on the 30 sec promo for the season, posted on FB? Looks like maybe from an opera shot? On facebook, look for the Bass school of Music the particular entry is this link

[Bass School of Music - Oklahoma City University | Facebook](http://www.facebook.com/pages/Oklahoma-City-OK/Bass-School-of-Music-Oklahoma-City-University/148163059879?ref=mf)

It’s the September 10 entry

Yes!! That is my D in the red dress (solo photo–not in a group) that says “spectacular.” The photo was from Too Many Sopranos. Thanks for sharing–I had not seen the promo and I don’t think she has either. Very cool.

P.S. I think the “spectacular” refers to the new season, not my D. ha ha.

The whole promo was well done but that was really a particularly great shot perhaps becasue it was so close and the colors were so vibrant. I keep hoping they will put up some pictures from Children of Eden but no luck so far. S is really excited about the show. We’re ready to get on up there Friday!

Shoot, musicmom, if I were you, I’d go for the fact that both the season AND your daughter are Spectacular!! :)

MusThCC, I agree with you!

Thank you, MusThCC and srw. If nothing else, she is very photogenic. I have no idea where she gets that or her singing talent. I have neither, and her paternal genes aren’t much better!

Hope you all enjoy seeing your kids in Children of Eden. I will really miss going up to see the shows. Fours years just went by too fast!
