Anybody want to chime in on Baylor University for an engineering degree? Their merit scholarships are very good, particularly for NMFs. Do employers value their undergrad engineering degrees? Do grad schools (like UT Austin, for example) value Baylor's engineering degrees? For now, my son is most interested in mechanical engineering, if that matters.

Any knowledge at all about Baylor's engineering program would be much appreciated!

Hmmm…Baylor isn’t really known for their engineering degrees, but I don’t see why UT Austin would not value their degree. Baylor is a pretty good school all around and very well known through Texas.

Okay. Thanks. I haven’t heard it mentioned much when people discuss engineering schools in Texas. But it does have an engineering program. It was the full-tuition scholarship program for National Merit Finalists that put it on our radar.

I checked out Baylor’s ME program when shopping for which college to attend as a senior in HS, three years ago. I did an overnight Engineering camp where I shadowed a freshman and stayed overnight in his dorm, it was a great experience. I’d recommend looking into that for your son.

Thanks, gstein! If I may ask, where did you end up? And how do you like it? Are you NMF, and if so, did you get a great NMF scholarship at your current school?
