China to USA - undergrad

I have a few questions if Chinese undergrads can help me out. I am doing a study and could use some help.

I found some information stating there are a little over 60,000 Chinese of 600k or so international students, however 82% of those are graduate students. (2003-2004)

Why is that?

Is it because students are more sheltered or do not have time to look outside China due to prep for the gaokao?

I was wondering if someone could help me answer these questions:

Are there professionals or secondary school administrators that help students come to China?
Do a lot of Chinese look into community colleges?
Is it difficult to come to this country (cultural and/or government challenges)?
Do American universities give presentations in China?
Are Secondary school students even interested in coming to China? (is it dependent on what Chinese school they get into)

Thank you

there are lies, damn lies and statistics

and what is that supposed to mean?

its a very simple answer…they have problems with english!

Mostly it has to do with finances…US universities (undergrad) don’t offer much aid to international students.
Graduate students are supplemented with departmental grants, research fellowships, TAs.
