Ok, I've noticed that Chinese people seriously judge Chinese-Americans who can't speak Mandarin flawlessly. I swear to god, sometimes it's so demoralizing to see the condescension. Does anyone else have the same feeling?

Yup. Luckily my parents forced me to learn Chinese from a young age, although my writing and reading is still terrible. I can speak it though.

If you’re having this problem, are you learning another language?

@woandering I can speak it, just no perfectly like so many others. And yeah, I’m learning Spanish and Latin in school.

My parents don’t really judge them…they just point it out, but that bothers me, too. I can’t speak flawlessly, but I was born in China and talk to my parents in Chinese, so I have a decent foundation. :P
