continuing parents' business needs some entreprenuer knowledge as well,
there are a number of good business schools in u.s. besides famed wharton and stern to nurture one's entrepreneurial skills, like babson, tepper. To transfer to stern or wharton can be extremely competitive, even students within nyu, upenn system can't often get in their bschool, unless one's from deep spring. deep spring is the wellesley for boyz. don't be discouraged, girls supposedly have better chance for bz school than boyz, given female's quiet presence similar to engineering and law school.

makeup:

which brand do u guys prefer for mascara and why: lancome, chanel, estee lauder, dior

lipcolors: which do u guys think is better

and same goes for foundation/shimmer

I prefer Chanel all the way.. especially if you do not mind the price. I have been using my "les 4 ombres" eye compact for about 3 years! It is so pretty but it does come with a big price tag $56. For lip colors I would stay with something natural looking with a little bit of shimmer. I have bought all kinds of lip glosses in the past but only recently have started using a little lipstick! A really good website with user rating of makeup products is: www.makeupalley.com . I love that website! You should go check it out for all your makeup inquiry needs.. :)

PS: I am not a big fan of lancome.. the juicy tubes are the only thing that is decent.

haha, xokandykyssesox, you are so interesing and random...lol
but sorry, i don't really use make up, so can't really help...aren't they all the same anyways? :)

since girls start talking about cosmetics, fashion clothing.....
maybe we boyz can talk about sports, cars, computer/technology, real estate, weapons, yachts, aerodynamics, money.....(money will be crucial when we start planning marriage.....the girls here are already shopping those exotic brands)

gosh...i remember when i was in elementary school i already started using makeup. in fifth and sixth grade. and now in china and singapore i rarely touch them. so you can really tell the cultural difference. i do have some makeup but i think a lot of them are all in chunks or something. i think the really essential thing, for most asians, is eyelash curler and mascara. it really opens your eyes up, of course if it needs opening. and oh must use waterproof kind. i used to think that waterproof is only for swimming and when you're ready to cry or something. then i realized the only way not to have clunks all around your eyes is to use waterproof mascara.

hey fayetti! that's a great site! im already sorta hooked... well... not THAT bad, but i do visit it before i went to the drugstore today hehehe... so thanks a whole bunch! its great

yes i do agree with vanillaice about mascara. im not a big fan of eyeliner hehe, yeah, im a weird asian i guess, but ill wear for prom dance pictures or some other "unordinary/unmediocre" event... i think its a pain to remove and apply... so in the morning its eyeshadow and mascara. lipgloss if i want to, but i usually just have it in my bag and wear it whereever whenever since u dont need a mirror for it unlike eyes. so eyes are fun.

tangsdaily - i didnt know guys talk about weapons.... like the physics behind a hydrobomb... or how destructive it looks kinda in a video game perspective

Hah you guys are funny!! But I PLAN to be the money maker in my relationship! :)

this thread is awsome, let's push the posts through 600

i haven't been back for a while, i wonder how things are changing there besides economic growth,
is internet filtered by governemtn in china?
are more people participating any form of sports for the sake of health besides elderly playing taiji? when i was at home, there barely could be enough space for everyone to play soccer, basketball, swimming(don't know if the pool water is still green or grey), badminton, pingpong......
are people sick of learning english yet? it's entirely unnecessary to integrat english into elementary school, middle school, and even the collegeiate exam. they should make it high school elective, may be college elective too. there are tons of other foreign languages people can study..........
is the environment getting better? cleaner air, river, lake.....
do a lot of people hate cops in china?
and how's that "soul
did the current history book give a substantial description of what was really going on in cultural revolution, later 1980's....... when i was home, those were not taught.
how is the "soul civlization reconstruction" promoted by government?
are there a lot of people boycotting japanese product?
what kind of books do students read besides school work?
answer any of those question you want

i think yes... well... my parents drive camry and accord HAHA... dont throw rocks at me... but im sure in china its different. that one actress zhaowei (vicky) was bashed sooo much for wearing the japanese flag on her dress. i dont think she knew what it was, but still.

do a lot of people hate cops in china?
[/quote]
hmmm i think cops/military is a much more "wanted" job in china than here since there's so much corruption and those positions bring you somepower (better than average citizen's nopower)

p.s. on the money issue... i agree with fayetti... well.... i dont want to be the sole income provider... it should be an equalpartner thing... we'd be making comparable salaries. hehe

oh yeah. i'm boycotting japanese goods myself. though i do have sony stuff but that was before the boycott. good thing i'm not a fan of japanese comics or music. in fact, i've always disliked japan.
the internet is not filtered. im sure because there are like those x-rated websites. china is really not as conservative as you think now.
we don't hate cops. we hate guards. they are such *******s.
sports is still not popular in china. you know what we do in pe in chinese schools? the girls i mean. stand around and gossip. seriously.
nope people are still not sick of learning english. it's still the craze around here. i guess it'll be for quite some time.

actually the internet is still very much filtered in my opinion. coz i was in China over the past summer to do a internship at a bank. While there (Beijing), I was trying to acess to some information about the difference between the chinese view vs the western view on banking and economy. Basically I had a ton of websites which I could not open. At first I thought they were bad connections, then later I realized that they were all filtered.

But its the internet, so no matter how the government tries to block it, some will eventually escape anyway. So eventually, its moving good general direction.

as for environment. its too much smog compared to the bright skies you see in US, Australia, Europe and etc. Still need alot of work on that one.

The internet in China is strictly filtered; what's banned are mostly either pornographic or anti-goverment websites. It may be a bit too overwhelming, but this is probably needed to maintain the domestic stability at this point. There are still the issues that need to be worked on, but I feel they are moving in the right direction.

hmmm i think at those internet caf

ewww~~i hate those internet cafes. for some odd reason i think they're really sleazy. people smoke in there which is pretty disgusting. i'd so rather stay at home.

Japan is politically an American puppet. It does what America tells it to do; and it acts what America policy says. This is not Japan bashing, but sometimes Japan doesn't seem to want to be Asian and doesn't respect its Asian neighbors.

^ Exactly
vanillaice,
I agree. And I think no one would actually like to be in one of those internet cafes, but that's what you have to put up with if you can not afford to buy one of your own. And though this is still improving, last time I checked only a rather small percentage of people have their own computer at home.

i want to ask you guys something

Do you know anything about Pasadena City College which is located in LA?

Is it a good community college?

De Anza and Pasadena City College, which one is better?

Thanks

thehammerspake~~~i agree!!!
well,i don't know. at least all of my friends have computers at home. in fact, most of us who were studying in singapore have laptops because a desktop one is too heavy to carry around obviously. so i think it is improving. internet cafes are better now i think. bigger and better conditions. though i still don't like it.
