I have to decide by sunday and it's all up for grabs. I was wondering if anyone could say what they think and why? I'm not very good with languages but I'm willing to work hard for an decent grade.Thanx!

spanish.

if ur not spanish or chinese.

spanish, way more useful in life. unless of course you’re moving to China.

spanish, way more useful in life. unless of course you’re moving to China.

That’s a pretty ignorant thing to say. With China quickly taking a place among the “super economies” of the world, it is increasingly important for companies and businesses to have employees that can speak Chinese (particularly mandarin). True, spanish may be more useful in the US, but think about the long term effects of what you do. Spanish is WAY easier than Chinese, so keep that in mind too when you make a decision.

jamesford, maybe it’s important to have companies have a few employees speaking chinese, but it is WAY more needed to have employees speaking spanish seeing as our country is about 40% hispanic. (made up guessing number)

Spanish is easier to learn. Chinese will probably be more useful in the future.

Courtney is WRONGGG. The US is approximately 12.9% Hispanic.

I’d say if you’re not into international, particularly Asian business or moving to China, go with Spanish.

wishyouwerehere, are you kidding me?

the hispanic population is continuously rising, at its like 40 percent already. if anything we need 2 percent of the american population to speak chinese because most of the chinese traders ARE able to speak english. so how is chinese going to be more useful in the future?

jonathan stop being disrespectful. pssssshhhhh. :)

Shhhh… you’re going to get me banned.

It’s not even close to 40%.. but it is rapidly growing, which I didn’t deny. Sooo..

Me: +5
You: -2 for lack of evidence

I thought you did debate???

EXACTLY! the point is, we still have 13.1 million asians, which means AT LEAST
one million must be fluent in Chinese. we only need about 100k people able to speak chinese to communicate with those Chinese who can’t speak english. however, most chinese in the economic industry are able to speak english, and if not, we still have 13.1 million asians some of which ARE able to speak chinese. now we have the 44.3 MILLION! hispanics that is almost 4 times as many asians. the spanish population is growing way more rapidly for the mere reason that there are more of them to reproduce. seeing as the spanish make up 44 million of our US population, it is more demanding that people speak spanish over chinese.

ps. your evidence is from 2 years ago.

yeah but if you take chinese it will take a long. time. for u to be able to even start to “communicate” with those fluent

Guys. English is the lingua franca anyway.

pwned!

go with spanish.

[10:47]

Just thirty minutes later you changed your opinion…pick a stance and stick with it.

regardless of the number, its still a very small percent of our population.

hahaha. jonathan, speaking the truth in a message.

I didn’t say that.

COME UP WITH A REAL ARGUMENT.
