Mission Burrito provided free burritos at Homecoming this year - they were pretty basic (you could choose chicken, beef, or veggie), but the price was definitely right!!

haha i've had chipotle once, and i'm feeling tb. tasty

What about Taco Cabana?

hey guys, just a simple question.
What is TexMex??? What kind of style is it?

oh and QDOBA.

TexMex is really a mixture of Mexican food and American (or Texan) food. Pretty much Mexican food with added stuff. Cheesier and spicier (as in hotter) usually, because it doesn't usually use traditional spices. Alot of the Mexican restaurants around are actually texmex.

I think that the Chimichanga best exemplifies Tex-Mex cuisine:

"Hm, what should we do to this burrito?"
"I know, let's deep-fry it!"

I'm pretty sure the burrito itself is pretty tex-mex, though.

Since this is Texas, how many authentic Mexican restaurants/take out joints are there near the campus? We have our fair share in California (as my S can attest) but probably few can compare to those in Tejas.

Define "authentic." I really doubt that most Mexican restaurants that people in Texas or California patronize could be classified as "authentic."

Tapatia and Chapultepec get the seal of approval from my various Mexican friends, though, so that's not too bad.

I have a friend who moved from Texas to Cali, and she said there's not any good Mexican where she lives. Baja Fresh is tasty but not what she thinks of as TexMex.

Hmmm. Is it called CalMex in California?

Oh, god, if Baja Fresh is your standard of quality, then Houston TexMex will blow you away.

Well, not looking for TexMex or CalMex, but more like authentic Mexican food (would that be MexMex?)

Nothing like Chimichangas and chicharrones to soothe the soul and calm the spirit

Didn't we already go over the non-authenticity of Chimichangas?

No, it's not her standard; its the only thing she found in Cali that was palatable. When she comes home to visit, we always find time for a TexMex run. :D
