Choate/deerfield

i didnt mean to offend you. i'm talking about the stereotypical preppy. dont worry, i wear weird clothes too haha. Some preppy is good, but from my own experience, I don't favor them.

oh and olivia, roommates might get in your personal and private space sometimes!.. all the time actually

That's all right, Msu, you didn't offend me. Some sterotyping is necessary when one is using using sterotypes.
Olivia, siblings have advantages and disadvantages. However, I agree with you. I would absolutely love to to have a twin brother. I wouldn't want an older brother, though.

Being preppy isn't a bad thing.

Are you guys talking about the real preps or the one's that wear like Aeropostale, AE, and Abercrombie and tipe lyk dis?

The "real" type of prep loves to sail, play tennis, golf, lacrosse, water polo, skiing, etc. They wear Polo RL, Lacoste, Brooks Brothers, The North Face, and just about everything from Nordstrom, Saks, or Neiman. They usually come from old money families and attend prep schools. Real preps are pretty nice and humble people. They pretty much listen to Indie/Light rock music.

The stereotypical public school "prep" is the Aero/AE/Abercrombie wearing kid who is either a cheerleader or a football player and think they're just the coolest person in the world. They also listen to rap music and try to talk like their from the hood.

You can find other definitions from UrbanDictionary or Wikipedia.

Funny, at my school, they would never call a football player or cheerleader a prep. Preps are just the "smart kids".

they're SMART in your school?!
in most schools they're snobby.
just like in the movies

Well, yes. But then, there are very few kids that are considered preps. There aren't really a lot of snobby kids at my school. Well, there are, but their snobbiness has nothing to do with being preppy.

bump = bump up my post

Yes. One of my friends says "gonna" like "gana". =o!!

Atleast from my experience the true, non fake preps are from old money and are really really sweet/proper... like think upper east side, well mannered, and sophisticated. But then there are also the rich, kinda preppy people like in Mean Girls...

I know two kids who live on the Upper East Side. I guess they're sort of preppy. They definitely aren't mean.

Has anyone read the A list books? They aren't very well written or anything but I read them every now and then as a treat. haha. Anyways, if anyone has read them, the kind of prep I'm talking about is like Anna Percy..

Ew, I hate those books.

I used to have a definition of preppy but it's become so confused reading others'. ;)

Who are they by?

Just read The Official Preppy Handbook. I'll just tell you that the kids who wear AE, Aeropostale, and Abercrombie and attend public schools who don't come from wealthy families aren't preps.

I have the Official Preppy Handbook.

Is the Official Preppy Handbook worth getting? I was just looking at it on Amazon.

I've always wanted to get it...but barnes and nobles didn't have it! Yeah, like tommeister said, is it worth getting???

I can't believe that book is still in print! It must have gone through many updates. I think it was first printed around 1979/1980. It just goes to show you how classic preppiness is.
