Choate essay help

I am currently working on my Choate essay, and I only have the personal statement left.
This is the topic : “Please reflect on a time, when in the face of adversity or peer pressure, you stood up for something in which you believed. What did you stand up for and what did you learn from the experience.”

I want to write about how I have gotten hate about being proud of being Korean on social media before, but I got through it by being even more proud of myself and explaining why I am so proud.

But I heard from somewhere that schools may not like people talking too much about their background/nationality? I don’t know if this is true so that’s why I’m asking. Thanks.

Hi, I think that if you’re truly passionate about the topic, you should go for it. As long as your passion and personality is expressed in a unique way, they want to hear it. Just make sure the essay is not generic- make it as personal as possible by adding details only you could’ve written.

Here’s the deal: You are proud to be Korean. It is an important part of who you are, so important, in fact, that when you’ve been criticized for it, you’ve responded by feeling even more proud of your heritage and culture.

So… why would you want to attend a school that doesn’t want students who are proud of their nationality or ethnicity?

Write about something meaningful and authentic. If the school appreciates it, you’re a good fit. If they don’t, you probably wouldn’t be happy there anyway.

Btw: I’ve only been to Korea once, but I really loved it. You are right to be proud!

Okay, thank you so much ! @lilypad123

That’s a very good point, thank you so much. Also that’s so cool that you’ve been to Korea, isn’t it amazing? I love it so much there. @CaliMex

@serendipity97 do you have any physical difficulty? if you have, you can say them about it!

I was a stammer ( I get stuck in every single word that I want to say), people used to laugh at me. but, after taking a 3 months long course, I overcame the problem! I said them about it!
I said them about my journy!

if you have anything, just say it to them!

@khanshaheb No, I don’t have any physical difficulties. But that’s great that you overcame your problem
