I'm writing small paragraphs for my essays.

depends on what you're writing. If it needs to be separated, then do so.

I agree, Msu. The most important thing is that the formate aids the piece.

Yes, Paris made the invention, and they followed through with it, with the help of Richard.

I'm doing small, separate paragraphs for them. I finally got my invention! :D

me too! only i dont know if it makes any sense haha

I kept trying out different things for mine, all revolving around the same idea. :)

Are you going to get outside assistance for the essays? My dad wants to check them over, and my friend is getting her s checked over by our English teacher, but it did say that it had to be our own work at the end of the application. But does that mean our WRITING, or grammar?

idk theyre referring to things like grammer and spelling, things that are universal in a good essay. ur writing essay, on the other hand, is something thats unique to u.

Well, by 'student's own work', do they mean just that we write it? Are we allowed to get help by terms of grammar and corrections?

yeah, it has to be ur own work but its ok to get help w/ grammer and that sort of thing. the closer it is to ur own voice, the better itll be because its coming from you.

it has to be written by you, but I'm not sure about editing grammar mistakes. I'm just going to let my sister read it and tell me if it sounds all right.

I wrote three different 'types' of inventions - all the same thing, but different details- and I let my dad confirm that the one I thought was the best was the one he thought was the best too.

no, it's not okay to get help with grammar. there can't be any intervention of any kind. email an adcom. they'll tell you. they say no revising or anything.

how many essays are you all writing? and how many schools applying to?

Thanks, Blair.

I'm applying to 7.

how many essays? how long are they (ie, two pages double spaced, one page small font, etc.)?

hmm.. well there is usually 1 or 2 depending one which school you're talking about (not including the "how will you contribute to our school" questions) and they usually give us the word/space limit.
Andover doesn't and I think im going to write about a page, single spaced, regular 12 sized font

no how many essays total

ohh. if i counted correctly, 11 big essays

For those of you applying to multiple schools, take a careful look at all your essay options. You will probably find that many of them are similar if not identical. You might be able to write a few essays that can be adapted to individual schools if you are under a time crunch.
