Hi I am a male 8th grader who applied to choate and loomis, 93%SSAT, lots of sports played at high levels, and I would really appreciate some pros and cons to both schools
Both are great schools. What’s a “pro” or “con” to one student/family may be the opposite to another. I can speak to Choate but have no idea how to respond to your post. What are you looking for? For example, if you are looking for a small community, Choate’s size might be a “con” for you.
Can you be more specific about what’s important to you? You mention sports. Choate fields some great teams and has a team/level for everyone. You can do your own wesbite research for both schools to see which sports they participate in and what the records are for those teams.
Pros and cons are relative to what’s important to you, so you need to supply a bit more information to get an informative conversation going here.
Thanks, @ChoatieMom! I was really wondering what the academics, school spirit, and community within the school are like.
Did you visit? Are these the only two school to which you submitted applications? Are you local? Will you be a day student? If those are your only two applications, the hypothetical pros and cons are very different from the ‘I’ve been accepted to Choate and Loomis Chaffee’ pros and cons.
Did you meet with coaches at either school? For many serious athletes, that makes a big difference in why they would choose one school over another. You would want to know about the current makeup of each team and how you might be expected to fit in.
What sports do you play? Different schools can have different sports that they do better in.
