I was accepted to these four schools today and I love them all, but I have to decide where to go! What are your opinions of these schools?

@maracas I honestly don’t like middlesex Andover has a beautiful campus, even though I am a 7th grader we were in the area and saw the campus. I also like hotchkiss and choate so i would cross of Middlesex.

i would say choate and andover should ur final choices…

Do an eenie meenie miney mo to help you decide. I personally would cross off Middlesex, but the other three are all great choices.

I’ve never heard of Choate, but I know Andover is the best school in the US. I’d take Andover if I had applied for it.

You’ve never heard of Choate? For Bs applicants, isn’t that impossible? :D

I second MBV choate is an amazing school I would love to go there when I go to 9th grade (in 7th)

I’m not sure what the academic level of Choate/Hotchkiss/Middlesex is compared to Andover. (I live close to andover, and I’m familiar with it. I’m applying for 9th next year.)
I guess it would depend on where you live, and if you want to go boarding/not boarding.

Personally, I’d choose andover, but I don’t know much about Choate and Hotchkiss. So it’s mostly up to you, and what you know about the schools.

Have you visited the schools. Middlesex is a wonderful school but is really different from Andover and Choate. You will get the same education at each of these schools, it is just a difference in the size, educational philosophy, etc of each school. If you want to be involved in many different aspects of school life and have lots of different opportunities really available to you, I think Middlesex would be a good choice.

I just got into Hotchkiss today!! It is my dream school and I didn’t apply anywhere else except for some local day schools. For me, I liked the location of Hotchkiss a lot more than say Andover, and it’s more of a tight-knit community than Choate which has a HUGE student body. Never seen Middlesex so can’t give an opinion…they’re all great schools. Do the revisit days and see which one “fits” you best. It’s most important that you go to which one you personally like the most because all have outstanding academics, athletics, etc.

did you guys who heard back from hotchkiss find out online ??

@Ironmom1 Yes, I’ve visited everywhere

@WishStar12 I’m boarding wherever I end up going!

Thank you all so much! Do you guys have any tips on what I should be evaluating the schools on on the revisit days, or revisit tips in general?

marcas did you find out about hotchkiss online ?

@kafkareborn yes, hotchkiss was online

weird, for just says “we’re sorry we’re not able to provide your decision online at this time” for a friend of mine. is that the wait list?

weird, for just says “we’re sorry we’re not able to provide your decision online at this time” for a friend of mine. is that the wait list? did anyone else get that message?

that’s really weird, it might be a malfunction or something, I hope your friend gets in!

actually, is there any chance that your friend was a late applicant with out realizing it?

If I went back three years and was given the choice I would have picked Andover, and from that list I would probably cross off Middlesex (despite the fact that I am a student there)
The only reason, personally, being that it has one of the most expensive tuition compared to all boarding schools, and yet, they don’t have a POOL!! But then again, I was a big swimmer, until I had to drop the sport when I got waitlisted at Hotchkiss and Deerfield (only applied to three schools).
Middlesex is also a much smaller school compared to the other 3. So if you like a smaller school. Middlesex is the one.
Andover would also give you the loudest name… for bragging rights…lol jk, that shouldn’t be the deciding factor… :P

Hi! I go to choate and i really love it i too was accepted to choate and andover but i didn’t apply to Hotchkiss or middlesex. personally, i think choate and andover should be your best options. Ansover has a gorgeous campus and a great dining hall. however, i thibk choate has a better sense of community. everyone really bonds here, while andover gave me a kinda, um, weird vibe. so, in the end, i think it’s best to email your tour guides and talk to them about the school. see what they really think. also, read more about the schools online to get a better sense of it. this is probably going to be one of the most important decisions of your life (no pressure :P) and you’ll be calling the school your home for 4 years. Take some time and think of where you can imagine yourself going.

hope this helps! let me know where you end up going!!! :)
