Ok - It's coming down to these two over the other schools, both of these are great in my opinion, and hard to make a choice as I see it.

But aside from re-visit nuances, could anyone give some solid reasons for one of these over the other? I'm sure some students could give some insight; participating in crew is a big "want" not to be discounted from the decision. Parents' point of view/input is also desired.

Your feedback would be helpful!

I guess there's not much to say on these schools out there? I'm trying to read through all the threads that come close to this...I've asked a similar question before and didn't get a huge response either..sorry if its repetitive.

It's not that there isn't much to say about either of these schools, but I think most are hesitant to praise one school at the expense of another, particularly since all of these schools are apples and oranges. All of the schools discussed in this forum are special to those who attend or are affiliated. And invariably, if one waxes on about a school, the next comment tends to bash it, or is subject to one-upmanship, unfortunately. The bottom line is that these choices are difficult, and although it is redundant, the best answer really is .....revisits.

You really can't go wrong between the two schools. Personally I would go to Choate. The school is well rounded, good arts, academics, and athletics. Can't speak for Lawrenceville since I didn't visit, but both are excellent.

Both are great schools. Great campuses, great academics.

Keep in mind, L'vlle has 1/2 day classes every Saturday while Choate has classes on 4 or 5 Saturdays during the year. At Choate, if you have class on Sat there are no classes that Wed. That's not the case at L'vlle - school is 6 days per week during the year.

The town of Wallingford is much larger than the town of Lawrenceville in terms of off campus surroundings, however, Lawrenceville is very close (bus ride) to the town of Princeton.

Each school has certain sports teams that are dominant in their leagues, if that is a consideration. Think of boys lacrosse (L'vlle) vs. boys and girls ice hockey (Choate).

I suggest revisiting each school - see how you feel on campus and what the student body is like. Trust your instinct.

Regardless of your choice, each school offers tremendous opportunities if you decide to take advantage of what they offer.

Other factors that may come into play include financial aid packages, if applicable, as well as distance from home.

To add to what LaxDad is saying, Lawrenceville does have Sat. 1/2 days every week, but they also only have 1/2 Wed., so you still have more school than Choate, but its a bit less than a full day more. Technically, you still only go 5 days a week, just over a 6 day period...

Laxdad -- when did Choate become dominant for boy's hockey? Did I miss something?

justbeingme -- all NE schools shorten the day on Wed. for sports committments...
