Choate Vs Taft

i was accepted at both taft and choate and i have to make the difficult decision of choosing one. My older sister is a junior right now at Choate right now and is trying to make me go there, but after revisits i think taft might be a better suit for me. Has anyone been in this situation or have any good advice for which school to choose? thank you

I'd go to Taft. If you think it's better for you, go there. It's probably the place you can imagine yourself most at.

but i have heard that it can be a really jocky school that has a lot of cliques...have you heard anything about this and can contribute for or against it?

if anyone just wants to post a one word answer what they think is a better school that would be fine :)

isn't it too late? todat is april 11

I think I would choose Taft because the campus looks really pretty.

lets just say im a pretty importannt person...but what have you heard from people that have/are going/gone to choate and or taft and what have they thought./...

I'd say go with Taft. If you liked it best during revisits, then that's probably where you belong.

even though choate seems to be more highly regarded among other boarding schools?

Just go to the school that you think you'll be the happiest. Taft and Choate are both amazing schools.

I am going to be attending Choate next year, and I chose it because it fosters a community. It is rare to find a school that not only focuses on academics, but a loving enviornment as well. I find Choate to be a rare gift.

Don't look around here for answers. Do what you think is right. Go with the school that you like the best. In your case, it's Taft.

What are your interests?

Taft.
much nicer school.
choate has a huge drug problem.
then again im sure all the other schools do to i just dont hear about them

hm. im going to taft and waht i liked about it was the smaller student body (in comparison to choate) and how the campus is more enclosed.

CHOATE!!! 'cause im going!
veryy important person? hmm

Oh my god, Little Bo Prep, what do you have against Choate?!? You mention the workload at Choate, when really Choate/Andover/Exeter/SPS are all the same pressure cookers. And the thing about the guy jumping out the window was probably some urban legend thing that somehow got to you. A huge drug problem? That was in the eighties. It's 2007. Sorry I am sounding so ****ed but everyone and their mom thinks that they should bring up the drug problem when really its no different. Jinxpalm, your sister is in my grade, I am an '08 too, but I have noo idea who she might be.

crh's right

The guy jumping out of the window actually sounds very similar to Catcher in the Rye. Holden discusses one of his class mates getting bullied causing him to have to escape. Therefore, he jumps out the window and kills himself. I don't know how you would confuse Pencey Prep and Choate, but Choate was mentioned in Catcher!
