A couple of different discussions have me thinking about what I like to eat when I’m craving something sweet. I’ve never been a huge sweet eater but there are times when I want something.
I’ve switched from milk to dark chocolate. I know a higher cacao percent is best. I try to stick with at least 70%. I find I prefer them with something added. I like Theo brand with a bit of orange. I also buy Green and Blacks toasted almond. What brands and variety do you like. . My favorite is Tony’s but the cacao count isn’t as high.
What brands do you like? I’m always looking to try new ones.
I like Trader Joe’s dark chocolate mints and dark chocolate nonpareils for tiny treats.
Do you have an Aldi near you. Their Ross Moser chocolate bars are THE best I’ve ever eaten. And they have lots of choices.my personal favorite is the chili chocolate.
It sounds like Theo discontinued their Nibs.
My mainstays are Ritter Sport dark chocolate with whole hazelnuts and Trader Joe’s 73% super dark chocolate with almonds. I sometimes splurge on Chocolove with candied ginger and any premium dark chocolate with orange in it (like Lindt Intense Orange).
@thumper1, we just had an Aldi’s open nearby, but I haven’t been yet. I’m definitely going to check out the chocolates you mentioned!
Aldi’s and Trader Joe’s both have good quality chocolate. I get dark chocolate peanut butter cups from TJ’s. (found by the cash register for 99 cents)
Lindt is hard to beat, in my opinion.
I haven’t tried these but these are supposed to be heart healthy. (ChocoNuvo)

I have been “anger baking” brownies every other week for the local Soup Kitchen, ever since November '16, to turn negative emotions into something positive. I put in crumbled snickers, oreos, heath bars, etc.
The smell of my kitchen is enough to satisfy my chocolate cravings.
If you like Lindt. Get on their email list. They often have sales, sometimes as much as 50% off.
I love Theo dark chocolate with sea salt. :x
DH has been getting barkTHINs dark chocolate almond with sea salt. I believe he gets it at Costco and/or Wegmans. Just a couple of pieces are very satisfying.
See’s candy - Dark chocolate with nuts.
I love See’s but it’s not an everyday chocolate. No Aldi nearby. I like the Lindt Orange but it isn’t that high in % of cacao.
I loved non pariels when I was a child. I’m going to look at Trader Joe’s. I’ve tried several of their dark chocolate bars and they don’t wow me. I do sometimes by the extra dark chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe’s and they are good. @patsmom I haven’t tried the Theo with sea salt. It sounds delicious I’ll look for it. I love the Theo dark chocolate covered coconut bars. I don’t think they count as good for you chocolate. Also they are so good I could eat numerous packages in one sitting.
I love the dark chocolate from Hexx.
If you’re ever in Las Vegas, you can even have a tasting, and a tour of the kitchen.
Recently we bought from Scharrgen Berger. I eat the 99% baking squares as they have no sugar (and I like the mild bitterness) but my H loves their Mocha bars. I was very tempted by their Chocolate Bark with Orange Peel but…sugar.
Aahh, when we went to Grenada last September, I brought back 6 chocolate bars from the chocolate factory. They were going to be Christmas gifts, but I kept them! I am down to my last one, 60% cocoa with nutmeg. Hmmm.
El Rey Gran Saman is a single bean origin 70% chocolate, very earthy taste, lots of character. You can buy it in a wide variety of sizes, both bars and discos. If I were buying it to have a little bit at a time, I’d get discos. You can let them melt on your tongue.

When I had my chocolate business, I used 4 different El Rey chocolates in varying blends, one of which was this.
Bruderbegger Dark Chocolate with Marzipan , Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate with Marzipan or Coconut and See’s Dark Chocolate with Almonds are my go to’s when I have serious Chocolate cravings !
Never tried See’s. Visit San Francisco several times a year and just can’t seem to find a parking space when I go by the store.
