Choice between postbacs

D1s friend has been admitted to 2 postbac programs is not sure which one to attend:

Columbia - large program, 500ish, more expensive as have flat rate each semester

NYU - smaller program, 150ish, pay only for the number of units taken

Apparently neither school publishes placement data and I don't think they have linkage agreements with any Med schools.

Does name matter for postbacs, and if so, is there much difference between C & NYU? She's leaning towards NYU more at this point based on size of the program and potentially higher gpa. Is there something else she should be considering? Any help is appreciated, I know enough to be dangerous when it comes to postbacs.

Your D’s friend needs to do more research if she thinks neither has linkage programs. I found these in under a minute.

[It’s not too late](http://www.nyu.edu/cas/prehealth/postbacc/linkage_agreements.html)

^Thanks! The result trying to help a friend with second hand information :o.

Depends on what type of post-bacc she needs (career-changer, stats improver, etc.) - but neither Columbia nor NYU are considered “good” pre-med post-baccs in terms of success getting one into medical school.

The four that always come up in these topics due to their very high success rate are: Georgetown, EVMS, U Cincinnati, and Tulane (which actually has 2 different post-baccs, both good)

I can’t remember her major, but I know that she didn’t have any science coursework as an UG. Not sure what her gpa was.

Thanks for the info, I am hearing about this after-the-fact, I don’t know if she even applied to those schools. The only other ones I know about are that she was accepted to H and WL at Bryn Mawr.
