Choice of Major

I am a new Gator mom and my D wants to change her major from what she put on her app. How do you change this? Also for preview she put the exploratory liberal arts and wants to change that also to her new major any suggestions. We are signed up for preview if you have any tips to help make it go smoother it would be appreciated. Also, (I know lots of questions) how many days do you think we should plan on staying to help her move in, she wants us to stay thru the first day of classes so we can take her shopping after for whatever supplies she may need? Thanks so much for any tips and advice. This is a first for us. Go Gators!

I called admissions about this same thing--Engineering to Chemistry. They told me that you are admitted to the University not the college. They expect many to change their minds and they are not held to anything.

Thanks so much for the info. I do have another question if anyone knows where we can buy carpeting for the dorm I would appreciate a name/phone number.

Changing you major involve you going to the academic adviser and telling them what your new major. Its nothing special.

Do you mean you want to carpet the room? I have seen it before but it was done by the girls dad who was a carpenter.

I originally put Electrical Engineering on my admissions application. During preview, I switched to Economics (during preview, you meet with an adivser who helps you with your schedule/major). After my first semester, I switched to Computer Science. I had to speak with an adivser in the college I wanted to transfer into.

Re: dorm/etc... In my opinion, being there one day is enough. Anything I'd forgotten to bring we picked up from Wal-Mart/Target.. beware though, those stores are very crowded during move-in. Also, the bookstore has many items he/she realizes they need.

If she is living in a dorm without carpet, i really recommend buying a (ginormous) rug.
