Choices for room type

Hey y'all. I'm filling out the housing form for first year students, and I'm having a hard time deciding on my preference for room type. What do y'all think?

There are Pros and Cons to each type of room (This is from what my college buddies have told me, I haven't experienced any of them yet):

For singles, you get privacy (a HUGE advantage). Sometimes you just want to study when your roomie wants to play video games, or sometimes you just want to sleep, but you just can't ignore your roomie who's getting it on with someone (This better not happen to me, I'll be a very ticked off person). Downsides include being by yourself, especially if you're not a very social person. If you're the type of person who doesn't talk very much, doesn't go out and initiate conversations with other people, etc. etc. then having a roommate(s) is like getting [an] instant friend(s).

I personally might opt for a single because I can talk non-stop to people. I think my hallmates will be my instant buddies. Plus, I snore, talk in my sleep very often, and occasionally (maybe once a week or so) I actually yell and shout in my sleep :)

I don't know how many people would appreciate that in a roommate :p

LOL I talk in my sleep too. One time on vacation my brother and I were sleeping in the same room and I actually had a horrible nightmare about him trying to kill me in a dark room. I started screaming in my sleep and guess who comes and wakes me up...the person who was trying to kill me in my dream. O what fun...lol

"... and occasionally (maybe once a week or so) I actually yell and shout in my sleep."

Hahahaha. Are you a psychotic?

naw, I think I'd rather have (a) roommate(s). It's just a question of how many? What do y'all think of the townhouses? They're uber far away from the rest of campus, but maybe it's worth it? I still can't decide!

They're not that far away at all. If you're gonna get roommates, I'd definitely go for a townhouse--they cost as much as singles, but you get a LOT of space.

Haha well.... not exactly psychotic.

I have very interesting dreams ;)

I went for double room. I'm an international student and i need a lil help to adjust. Don't wanna walk around confused or go to dinner alone. Besides i'm also cool but with ma room mate, we're really gonna be tight unless he's really a character. I chose da houses at random, but i think ma 1st onee was ecology!

Any disadvantages to townhouses?

You get your own room right?

well I was talking to my friend who's a sophmore at Cornell n she said that the "townies" have a reputation for being slightly weird and very isolated...but then thats her opinion, I don't know.

By "townies," was she referring to the people of Ithaca? I never heard the people who live in the townhouses referred to as "townies;" that would be something new to me.

I think she was talking about the the people living in townhouses, since I was asking her about the perks or single room v. double room

haha, arright. Just wondering, cuz I had never heard that before. ;p

No, you'll have a roommate. The townhouses each have two bedrooms and four residents. The townhouse RAs each get their own room though (only two of them per townhouse), which I think is a ridiculously sweet deal.

The townhouses don't have the typical college dorm atmosphere- they are kind of isolated and you might not meet as many people right away. However, as soon as you DO meet those people, you'll be able to throw some AWESOME PARTIES in your townhouse. They are pretty huge.
