Hi, I posted about this before, but I still have not made a decision...I am going to be a senior next year and I am having a schedle conflict with differential equations and concert choir, our selective choir. differential equations would definitely look good...but I don't enjoy the class. If i don't take a math course next year will it detriment me for admission to ivy league schools? Also, I have shown an interest in choir with making all-states and regions and such. I have the choice of taking either choir and econ, or DE and econ. Which one should I choose? DE also has AP weighting, so I may be valedictorian if I choose that, but I really enjoy choir. Which one is better for me? For college?

If you can take differential, I assume that you've already taken calculus. If that's true, and if you don't want to go into a math-intensive major, it won't hurt you that you're not taking math as a senior.

Take choir. If you really enjoy it, it's worth it - there's more to high school (and senior year) than just getting into college. Besides, colleges like to see "passion" - if you've been doing choir for 3 years, doing it a 4th will also look good.

Try taking an advanced math class at a nearby community college, so that you can at least make the case that you are making the effort to keep up with math. But definitely take choir. :-)

So even if I were not to take DECA or a math course next year, it would be okay?

What if the extra weighting helps me? Should I still do what I like?

The extra weighting won't help you enough, particularly since it's your senior year. Any weighting would only be for the first semester anyway.

Assuming the rest of your schedule is rigorous, yes, do what you like.
