Choosing a boarding school.

I want to choose a boarding school, based on my stats what do you think of my changes of getting into a good one.

8th grade: Mostly A's few B's (Made the bb team (A team) And won medals in track)

9th just started (I'm making all A's, im in sports, and im "class leader for most of my classes"

(I'll be moving in 10th so I should be applying/ attending in 10th or 11th)

My teachers all love me,say im the best student. I have really good writing skills.
And since 3rd grade I have had a phs reading level.

Do you think I got what it takes to make it at a boarding school?

I'd like you to list some that would go with my abilites.

Helloooooooooo

Still no one :(

Almost surely you do. There are boarding schools suited to all kinds of students.
Maybe what you’re asking is, do you have what it takes for the top boarding schools?
What is your SSAT score, and what kind of school are you looking for?

@tigerlileh: Have patience in terms of getting replies here, especially when you post something at 1 in the morning. ;-P

I’m taking my PSAT soon

@tigerlileh: The SSAT is what most schools use for the admissions process…though it may be different for people applying to 11th grade.

Here’s the link to the SSAT site, where you can find a site near you and register:

Should I go to a co-ed or a college prep?

Bump ;D teh thread

I think you definitely do have a chance at boarding schools if you go through the application process well.

What schools are looking for is well-roundedness, but more so, individuals who excel in a particular area and are extremely dedicated to one huge passion and will bring something to the school, not only in academics. Not only extra-curriculars, either, but like as a person and a leader.

They’re also looking to hear your voice and what makes you unique…So make sure you do well on the essay and interview, they’re very important.

(: I’m applying too. So nervous!

Most schools, I think, are both co-ed and college prep. ^___^

The stats you gave here aren’t extremely clear but one I think one of the top (really high up there!) schools you should try for (which is a reach for almost all those applying) is Deerfield, because they will especially like your commitment to athletics. Check out Peddie, NMH, Taft, Brooks.

Try to get some ec’s/ do activities academic-based besides sports though. Because schools will love your athletic talent (send a tape to the coach!) and arts and etc. but still the most important are academics.

You should probably invest in doing sports and getting a lot of amazing grades. A lot of the schools don’t accept many 10th graders and if they do it’s usually because they have something amazing about them or they’re transferring from another school. If you also have a good list of ECs and get good scores then you might have a reasonable chance.
