Choosing a College OF

For the application I'm doing, it asks my top 2 choices of Colleges (of Agriculture, of Science, of Business, etc). Does choosing a specific one like Science lower your acceptance rate since it's more competitive and selective?

To my understanding, for undergraduate admissions, universitiess don't care what you plan to major in or what college you plan to enter the slightest bit. I think the reason they have you designate one is for statistical purposes.

i was wondering the same thing... does the major u apply under change ur chances of getting in?

You need to investigate how easy it would be to move from one college to the other within your university if you decide to change your major. Are all (or most) of your potential majors in the same college? Then that is the college you should apply to as your first choice.

happymom is right. Some programs are easier to move between than others. Some music disciplines require auditions as an admittance factor. Criteria may differ for engineering, pharmacy, or other specific disciplines.

In general, though it is usually not an issue. Many change majors, or are undecided initially. If you can't find the answer within the school's website, do ask.
