Choosing a Computer Engineering College

I am currently at the stage in my college applications where I have applied to my choice universities. My top three being Case Western, Stanford, and Ohio State, planning on a major in computer engineering. My question is, what are the relative program strengths at these three universities?

From what I can gather, Stanford would have the best computer engineering program, followed by OSU, then Case. This is judging solely from US News and Reports rankings, I don't know anything about their respective co-op programs and the such.

My main concern(and reason for posing this question) is that a Stanford education would not be so different from an education in my home state of Ohio to warrant moving all the way to California. I would not have the money to afford more than maybe one trip home a year, and I know that I would miss my family something awful. Of course, this would be a different situation if the education quality was significantly different.

Stanford is pretty generous with financial aid, so it is possible that is may cost less than Ohio State after financial aid (even if you add on the added travel costs). Try the financial aid estimator or net cost calculator on each school’s web site. Of course, it is an admissions reach for everyone type of school.
