Choosing a Fraternity

I know I want to join a fraternity and based off of what I've found online I'm interested in rushing places like Fiji, SigEp, and DKE. I've played varsity sports throughout high school (but not necessarily the best/super athletic). I hate people who are really full of themselves so 'top frat' places I don't consider fitting. I consider myself pretty good looking and do alright with girls. Not a super heavy drinker and don't want to be going out partying every single night/weekend. Also want to be in a place where people are smart and take school seriously. The three places I listed above all seem to fit these categories and I find to be low key enough where other people won't judge me negatively when they hear I'm in them. Also I don't want to get hazed or at least very minimally!

Can anyone else give me any advice for rush and stuff or if theres something I should know about fiji, dke or sigep? thanks!

sounds like we should be roomates next year man haha

Those three more or less fit the description of yourself. While they arent exactly saints, they’re probably the most friendly, humble, and academically oriented of the non-jewish sphere (dont get me wrong though, still plenty of jews). Fiji (~100 members) is very much about hanging out rather than partying if that makes sense. SigEp (~120 members) likes to throw parties and act very fratty. DKE (~80 members) is kind of a balance between the two. You won’t be judged negatively from being in most fraternities, so don’t let that be an issue.

For rush though, its good that you have spotted on some places but don’t limit yourself to just them. My advice would be to try to explore during welcome week (every house will be throwing a parties thursday, friday), and let a brother know that your interested. You’ll be added on some email list or facebook group from there and know about all their events.

I know this is over said but don’t join a place just because of reputation. If you’re going to hang around the same type of guys for all of college make them the right ones. But you sound like you know what youre doing. Hope I’ve helped.

Good info, thanks for getting back to me.
