Choosing a lot of academic programs

When universities tell you to choose your top 3 preferred majors, is it a good idea to choose all 3 even if you do not really want to pursue the last 2, or choose only 1 you really want and leave the other 2 "undecided"?

Especially Stanford?

There’s nothing wrong with saying undecided. US colleges in general, don’t want to limit your ability to explore and they know many students change majors.

For the colleges (Stanford included), it gives them only a rough planning range.

Why don’t you do this? List your pref major and list 2 others that you’d consider (given the right cirucmstances). Nothing wrong with that. You’re not committed, regardless.
