Going into junior year I am really trying to find a major that fits. Everyone says pick something that feels right and you see yourself in 30 years.

Like always I am more concerned about the near future and what college will have to bring for my chose. I am leaning towards a Chemical engineering major right now. The idea of such a broad field and and really focusing on maximizing products seems interesting. But the more I read the more I see people just saying how hard it is. Anyone know how hard the major really is or others majors like it (broad spectrum and studying products to improve them)?

I do understand that every engineering major is difficult and if I want and easier time I should divert from the field. But I believe I can more than manage the curriculum I am concerned with comments saying it is the hardest degree for engineering. Also how does the future hold for it and what subjects should I enjoy in school to go into it. I am more than a science person i think by the time I get out of high school ill have 14 credits of it.

I am not an engineering major. But I do have a number of engineer-major friends (and engineer-major dropouts), and my impression for the major is: its not for the faint of heart. (Its common knowledge here .__.)

I was talking to my scientist a couple weeks ago, and he told me how his daughter wanted to major in chemical engineering, but that he didn’t want her to do it because that field is doing very poorly right now. Honestly, i don’t even know what that means…because i’m obviously not a chemical engineer. But i just wanted to give my two cents in.
