Choosing a PC Laptop

interesting...

i have a dell 8600, and its great

Okay let me clarify that. When I said "the same parts", I meant the same speed / size as in GHz, MB of processor, memory, vid card, etc.

to me the sony vaio seems like a fast yet well priced computer. any comments?

which one, plagmayer?

Sony VAIO (PCG-K33)

Just something i noticed about the VAIO K33, plagmaster: the estimated battery life is 1-2 hours. It may or may not matter to you.

Bluesteel, how is the weight (of your Inspiron 8600)? Do you carry it in a backpack?
Do you find the case to be flimsy?

7 lbs. is that the average weight for most laptops or is it on the heavier side?

I'm actually experiencing a similar dilemma. I'm a second semester senior, and my computer(an 800 MHz HP) doesn't run Counter Strike, of course. So now there's option
A)Get a nice desktop and enjoy the second semester, or
B)Save up and buy a laptop before college.

What do you guys think?

i have a 2.4ghz toshiba, and personally, i think they make the best laptops. if you have the money, go with a powerbook or an IBM, but toshiba is next in line after that.
