Do any of the current freshman have any advice on how to choose what "communities" to request on the housing application? Other than going to view the "model" suite at Ehringhaus, does Carolina offer anything that helps you chose? Is it better to live in south campus where most of the freshman seems to live or would you recommend a different area of campus? Since you can't request a specific dorm, are there any "communities" you would recommend and why?

Choose South Campus, you'll meet more people your freshman year. North campus is rather boring as it is more quiet. You'll appreciate walking through all of the school and learning it, appreciating it, etc. Ideally, mid campus is the best housing.

Oh, and unless you get Avery/Old East/Old West/Kenan community/or most mid and all north campus dorms, you're going to be stuck in something initially you won't like. I LOVE HJ now, but it's the 3rd lesat nice dorm. Morrison is going to be nice, they're rennovating it for you guys. Craige is a dump, don't live there.

I think next year, they're making it so there's an equal number of freshman living on all 3 campuses (north, middle, south).

There are also room layouts on the website, I think.

yeah i heard HJ is the most social and you'll meet tons of new ppl. and walking from south campus to your classes shouldnt be all that bad since theres the campus bus and stuff (and of course its good exercise lol)

It should be pointed out that Craige Community (and others) refers to more than one dorm...'Craige' and 'Craige North'. Craige is older and not too nice. But Craige North is only about 4 years old and extremely nice. When we saw Craige North, my husband and I both commented that dorms have certainly improved since our college days. Beautiful dorm...big rooms, big suite bathrooms, wireless study rooms with couches and desks, tv rooms and floor kitchens, central a/c and heat.

I still think the older (really old, not 1960s old) dorms have more charm, but the amenities are very nice at Craige North, Morrison South, Horton and Hardin, which are the four new dorms that are almost identical.

I'de stay of S. Campus if i were you, its just more of a freshman experience. I live on N. Campus, and I love it, but I still kind of wish I had stayed on S. Campus.

I live in Kenan Community and I love it... there's such a thing as walking or taking the bus to south campus if you'd like to get the experience or whatever you call it. And let me tell ya, kenan community is like one big family.

is craige north on north campus?

where can i get a map of where the dorms are?
