Ok so basically im going to be an incoming freshman and I've visited the campus and both the dorms I am deciding between.

This is the pros and cons that I have come up with:

Anacapa

Pros:

-Close to classes, main school
-Only two floors
-Some ocean views
-Close to beach

Cons:

-Community bathrooms, 1 per wing
-Co-ed only by wing not room
-Small-er rooms
-Cannot bring a car
-Long walk to IV

Overall + for centralized
- for comfort

Francisco-Torres

Pros:

-Lighted tennis courts, swimming pool right there
-Dining hall right there
-Can bring a car
-Bathrooms shared only by 4 people
-Slightly bigger rooms
-Co-ed by room not wing or floor
-Close to IV

Cons:

-One mile away from central campus (&classes)
-Hotel type building so one noisy floor can kill a night.
-Bike or Bus to central campus can be a ***** during crappy weather.
-More of a party dorm than any of the other 7.

Overall + for room comfort
- distance from classes

Basically I would like the extra room in FT but be centralized as in Anacapa. PLus im not a big partier but I will and would like to party.

HELP on a decision and maybe some insight to the the two.

Hey I fell in love with Francisco Torres and its big suite-like rooms and attatched bathrooms, but if you want to be close to the campus then go for anacapa. Also, remember anacapa is only 2 floors so there is a limited space there, so you might not end up being able to live there. FT is the newer of the two and it houses 1/3 of the freshman so everyone there gets to know one another, but then again since it is freshman they are known to be the "rowdy" dorms. If you don't want to live with noisy people perhaps you should think about requesting to live on a Quiet floor? Hope I helped!

See I love ft for the room but is it far enough away to be a pain to go to and from classes? i mean i keep thinking college isnt like high school you go for an hour lecture then u do whatever and go again so im thinking wouldnt it be a pain to have to bike from ft to class then ft to class then ft to class a couple times a day?

Hey you have to remember that you don't have to go home(or better yet to your room lol) between classes! you can always hang around the main campus. That's what I keep telling myself since I chose FT as my first choice lol.

there are buses and you can ride your bike from FT to campus. But there is a big advantage in being able to walk to class or back to your room for a break. You've already analyzed the situation pretty well, and now you're coming to a realization that's a sad part of adult life -- you CAN'T have it all. Life involves tradeoffs, so you'll have to decide what is more important to you.

personally I'd figure that I'd be living in IV for at least 2 years if not 3, so I'd take this chance to be right on campus. But that's just me, each person has to decide what is the right choice for them.
