Choosing between UCSB and UCLA...?

The choices:
1) UCLA
I like it because, well... its UCLA. They have a decent Electrical Engineering
program, and it is well-respected for the most part (comparable as the
runner-up to Berkeley). Also because it is relatively close to home, and thats
important to me.
2) UCSB
Academically, it doesn't compare with UCLA, and I don't much care for the
location (even though its nice) PLUS I don't like that its known as a party
school. But I'm considering it because they're offering me the Regents
Scholarship, and I need all the money I can get to minimize my loans.

So, basically which would you choose? Is it worth passing up UCLA for $25,000 for four years (especially after all that hard work in high school)? Just looking for CC opinions.

Are you sure you won't get Regents at UCLA, too? If not, you need to seriously evaluate the gap between UCLA and UCSB, in terms of how much you like each. For me, I'd probably settle UCSB if going to UCLA would be considerably more expensive (i.e. no Regents). If the difference was not THAT big but not quite minor, I'd probably choose UCLA anyway.

In your position, I'd go with UCLA.

I would choose UCLA Electrical Engineering (ranked #13 for undergrad).

UCLA hands down.

ucla! woohoo i wouldnt think twice

I'd personally go to UCSB just for the location, but based on what you have stated, go to UCLA, its a great school.
