Choosing btwn CMU and UIUC... Why CMU? Convince me..

I'm an out of state student(for both) trying to figure out what makes CMU better.

Info:
CMU- Admitted in CIT waitlisted for EE and CE
UIUC- Admitted as Comp Engineer

by the rankings, UIUC is the “better” program

But it all depends on what kind of environment you want…just look at UIUC’s class sizes, the look at CMU’s =p

Either way, your future is nice and safe. Compare aid and your own personal criteria.

The greatest thing about CMU: not being treated like a worthless number.

UIUC referred to me by my applicant ID when I got my acceptance email. NOOOO THANK YOU.

There is no difference in rankings once you are talking about any school in the top 10.

If you go to # 4 or # 7 or # 1…you have a great opportunity for an outstanding education, great employment or grad school.

The two schools are night and day.
Let’s see- -Illinois is literally in the middle of no where
Illinois is HUGE-- meaning more sports, more opportunities for non tech type classes
CMU – you have much great chance of research oppt as an undergrad given the ratios, you will not be taught by a TA in a class of 1000 students in your intro classes
Unless you love the color orange or division 1 sports or want an aerospace major (which CMU does not have undergrad) …there is no conceivable reason why you would go to a mega-sized state school over CMU…

(yes, my D had that acceptance too…the campus visit was so impressive yet impersonal…there was not a remote chance she’d want to attend after her campus visit)
