why not UIUC?

You can either choose to have a life or not have a life in college. I’d pick UIUC.

You can have a life both places.

UIUC has a slightly higher rank and a more traditional college campus in a college town, CMU is still a great school and is in Pittsburgh. Personally, I did my undergrad at UIUC and loved it, but I would have rather been in Pittsburgh than Champaign-Urbana. Still, each school has pros and cons.

CMU is more famous than UIUC for overall reputation.

False.

Get out of here, ■■■■■!

Don’t say get out of here.
Both are great. I will go to UIUC.

Next time be clear on whether CMU means Carnegie Mellon or Central Michigan University - I was having doubts there for a while on whether you deserved to go to college or not, lol.
