I have looked through everything and it looks like I don’t have many options.
I might be able to go to Syracuse.

What is the value of going to DAAP? Would it really help me with admissions? Will it help me overall? I’m having schedule conflicts w. a choir trip/performance and a leadership camp.

DAAP is a shorter course? Is that why you are wondering about the value?
Something is better than nothing.
Syracuse is a fine option if that’s what works best for your schedule.

My conflict is this.
I’ve decided to drop multimedia and either take Web Tech/Design or Physiology for my senior year.

Which one would be better college-wise? Would it matter?

Both are interesting to me and I have no issue with either. Apparently Web Tech is boring and you get a lot of free time, so I’d have time to work on things I’d need to get done.

Taking physiology would mean that I’ll have four years of science and that may look good as well.

Hi Chicken Wang…I’ve been awfully busy these days but thought I’d check in. My answer is similar to before. If you think you need more portfolio pieces and know that Web Tech would give you a chance to create strong work then that might be helpful. If you are going for the schools that also want strong academics and good stats (RISD/DAAP), AND you are confident you will have a strong portfolio no matter which class you take, then go for physiology.

Just checking back on your college choices ChickenWang…now that you have your Sr. year schedule nailed down, it’s time to start applying. Advice…if you want it: Get SCAD application and/or any other school with rolling admission and no portfolio option submitted ASAP. Then keep an eye on UC/DAAP dates - they don’t have ED/EA option, but do have an early deadline and don’t require portfolio either. Get these out of the way early so you can focus on getting your portfolio wrapped up. Note the various online submission processes for on-line portfolios, these vary annoyingly. If sending portfolio on CD remember that your CD packaging is a design option. (this advice from RIT). GOOD LUCK !

Hey IDMom! Thanks for checking in and thank you for the advice!

Heres my school list: UC/DAAP, SJSU, CSU Long Beach, Pratt Institute, Syracuse University, Arizona State, Auburn University, RIT, California College of Arts, College for Creative Studies.

There are some +/-, but right now I’m leaning towards an university. I don’t think that going to an Art school would be the right environment for me. UC/DAAP looks to be my top as it’s an university and coop. I really enjoyed it there when I went for DAAPCamps.
