choosing classes

so many people are asking about classes.
exactly when do incoming freshmen choose classes. how and where?
thanks bunches!

Your advisor might pre-enroll you in some classes over the summer. You'll finalize your schedule during the add/drop period once you meet with your advisor during orientation week.

the specifics will depend on your major...i think college of arts and sciences does it the hard way...

dewdrop is right, meet with your advisor...

In Ag at least, during orientation you meet with your advisor to work on your schedule, although you should be pre-enrolled

what is meant by the "hard way " for college of arts and sciences?

Prob means your advisor won't pre-enroll you in anything and you should do some research and create a preliminary schedule before coming to campus.

Well that sounds awful to me :(
I have totally no idea where to do research about the courses...

How about for transfer students?? Will the pre-enroll us too?? (especially for College of Engineering? :))

by hard way i think you're not pre-enrolled, but i do think you have an advisor...

and last i remember they made you sign up for some courses in person :-d

I'm not sure if transfer students get pre-enrolled because your advisor might not get to see your transfer credit evaluation until closer to the start of the semester.

yeah, in arts and sciences you sign up for your courses in person based on the last 2 digits of your ID number - really sucks of the last 2 digits begin with a 7, 8, or 9.

Wow.. That's bad.. -___- So.. Will we get some place in the classes?? I don't even know what classes to take.. >.< Still waiting for my NetID.. hahaha..

You will get into the courses you need to take. Professors are very sympathetic to transfer students if you explain your situation to them.

When I arrived in the fall I was on a waiting list for organic chem....the staff got all 350 on the waiting list into a lab section.

Stop worrying about what classes to take. Once you meet your advisor during orientation week, you will know everything. So enjoy your summer! And if you have spare time then look at courses of study online to see which courses in your major interest you!

It's really not that bad for A&S students. You spend 1 hour during orientation walking to the different buildings to get stamps on your registration sheet. It's a good way to get to know the campus.
