Choosing Classes

Hello, I want to ask people's opinions on which classes i should take as a freshman for the fall quarter. i am in ERC, and my major is communications. I am afraid that i will change my major later on, so i dont know whether or not i should start taking my major required classes yet. does anyone have a suggestion as to which classes i should take?

Depends. However, for now stick to completing your GE. [General Education](General Education) That link should help you choose classes. Have you taken your foreign language placement test? Are you exempt from taking a certain math class? Did you take the Chemistry placement exam?

You could always wait until August 17th for course recommendations from your academic counselor.

counselor course recommendations come out today for warren at least… has anyone had any luck accessing them yet? for me it still says

“Return to this page on August 13 to review your Academic Counselors Course Recommendations for your first quarter at UCSD”

i’ll keep checking throughout the day i guess…

where do you check course recommendation?

for me (warren students), its a part of the orientation steps page that you half completed a few months ago… i think you can access it by going to “virutal advising center” at tritonlink and then clicking on the link that’s on that page…

hmm the warren site says

Counselor Course Recommendations

Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the course recommendations system. We hope to have this resolved shortly. Please check back on this site in the near future for your recommendations.

If you’re sure of your major, I would take an easy GE class or two (fine arts), MMW, and a major specific class, to have an easy-ish class while still getting in a good number of credits.
