I am looking for advice on choosing classes in Bus department.

I was wondering if I should take BUAD 304 with Coombs or BUAD 307 with Kovacevich for the fall?

Also, anyone who have taken BUAD 305, should I choose Freed or Scharlach?

Don't know about 305, but Coombs and Kovacevich are good professors. 304 and 307 are also rather chill, with 304 perhaps being slightly easier.

kovacevich is a cool guy. never had coombs, but i thought 304 was pointless.

take sharlach.

Thanks for the advice Themegastud, Afterhours.

I was wondering if all BUAD 304 is online class? Cause it seems all the class on the schedule said online on the lecture part. If so, how is the online class like? I never taken an online class since I heard its not good as the actual class.

Also, what professor would you guys recommend for MATh 218? So far I'm thinking about Mikulevicius.

To be honest, 304 is just one of those classes where you feel you already know what they are teaching. I personally thought it was rather intuitive, but some of the lab exercises were interesting to say the least. I think it's a good class to take for someone that wants to get there feet wet before taking the real core classes.

I took the class online and it was really nice and convenient. They videotape the lecture, so you can access it at your convenience, which is nice when you want to review the lectures around midterm time. Of course the bad side is that most student get lazy and try to cram all the lectures 2 days before the test.

Never heard of the 218 teacher, but I hear Verona is good. I thought 218 was a tough class, so definitely pick a good professor. Your professor will be very valuable come final time, since everyone takes the same final, and so it comes down to how well you were taught. It's kind of sad but 218/310 professors get a really bad rap, since it's a tough course for both students to learn and for professors to teach. I personally think they should eliminate 218 and just require 310 for business students.

The videotape of the lecture seems pretty useful. I was wondering if the class is ALL online or we have the choice to goto the lecture, since on the schedule it tell us time for the lecture?

Lecture is optional, but you have to attend a lab once a week. If video doesn't work for you, you can always go to the real lecture.

From what I've read (Senate course guide), Kovacevich is the better of the two. If you take Rex K. then maybe I'll see you this Fall!

Rex is better IMO as well. He's a great guy that really cares for his students. I took his class a while ago and he still remembers me and we say hi when we see each other around the business school. I remember a few of his lectures being a bit dry, especially because it's a mega-section and Edison has such comfy seats, but overall I enjoyed that class.
