Choosing College - Georgetown

Hi guys, as an international student, I am not as up to speed with the relative merits of all the colleges...

I was just wondering if you could help me out, by giving me an idea of what Georgetown is like. My favoured subjects are Economics/Maths, but playing college tennis is also an important aspect of choosing where I would like to study...

How does it compare academically/socially/sporting-wise to say an Ivy school, a Stanford, a Duke or a Northwestern?

Thanks very much!!! All the best...

I’m probably going to Georgetown next year, so I can try to give you some insight…

Athletics - Stanford, Duke, NW, and Gtown all have really good athletics. Georgetown has an amazing bball team but a horrible football team, so if you like football…look at the others. Ivy League sports aren’t up to par with these 4 schools, but depending on the school and sport can still have good teams (Cornell bball this year, for example)

Socially - Stanford, Duke, and NW all have Greek life, while Gtown doesn’t. Ivies, again, it depends on the school. Social life at Cornell or Dartmouth is a lot different from that at Columbia due to their locations.

Hope that helps a little!
