Choosing Recommenders

I apologize if this specific question has been exhausted already, but I'm really debating over which teachers to ask for recommendations for the Common App. It asks for two academic teachers, correct, and only three if there are extenuating circumstances?
I know my junior English teacher will write me a fantastic rec, so I'm definitely asking her. But as for the other one, would it be better to ask my French teacher (who I know rather well after having spent ten days this summer on a trip with her) or my Theory of Knowledge teacher (who recently wrote on a paper of mine that he missed reading my essays over break)? I'm really interested in foreign languages; on the other hand, Theory of Knowledge, which is a required class for the IB Diploma that basically is what it sounds like, is my favorite class of all time. I'm worried that having two writing-based recommendations (English and TOK) would be overkill, but I don't know my math or science teachers as well. Any thoughts? Who are you asking for recommendations?

Choose the one you think will be the stronger recommendation. The subject area they taught you is less important than the things they say about you as a student and as a person. Ideally, you want the teacher who says you are exceptional, one of the best they’ve seen. In addition to academic recommendations, choose the one more likely to say you are mature, self motivated, able to get along with others, and a lively addition to the classroom. Before deciding, have a conversation with the teacher and ask what he/she would be able to say about you in a recommendation. If you don’t get the answer you want, ask the other one.

Thank you, niceday! If the subject doesn’t really matter, then I think I’ll ask my TOK teacher, seeing as that class is really based on quality of thinking and discussion and I think I probably stand out more there.
